| The Aegean and Eastern
Mediterranean Seas, where you are invited to sail
aboard M/S Paluko, are the stuff of legends. They
wash the shores of lands where civilization was
born, of islands and coves breathtaking in their
beauty. These are the seas where Phoenicians,
Lelegians, Carians, Lydians, Lycians, Rhodians,
Persians and Dorians once sailed, where Athenian
and Spartan triremes battled, where Roman, Greek,
Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman ships contested
in war and plied in trade.
In more modern times, until extensive tourism
was made possible by inexpensive commercial aviation,
the shores bordering these seas were seldom visited
by Western travelers. Although it is awash in
history, filled with superb archaeological sites
and blessed with natural beauty and a benign climate,
the region really started to be “discovered”
only in the 1970s and ‘80s, and what a discovery
that was! The PanAmerican Clipper flight magazine
dubbed it “The Turkish Turquoise Coast”
while Condé Nast TRAVELLER named it the
“Cleopatra Coastline”, extolling a
cruise in these waters as “Truly, the voyage
of a lifetime.” Writing about the same experience
a Polish journalist chose “I Was in Paradise”
as his title. Now M/S Paluko is ready to take
you on just such a voyage, a voyage of a lifetime
that will linger on in unforgettable memories.
For a brief, inadequate preview of what awaits
you click on some of the cruise attractions on
the schematic map below. But please note that
no description can convey the smell of the sea
mingling with the fragrance of wild herbs inhaled
as you feast your eyes on sights that were once
gazed upon by such giants of history as Alexander
the Great, Julius Caesar, Mark Anthony, Cleopatra
or the Apostle Paul whose voyages here are well
recorded.
